Drobeta Turnu Severin is an old, but still modern town. The patron of the city is Saint George, and the city is celebrated each year on 23rd of April. More than 20 monuments embellish the face of the city such as: the monument dedicated to the heroes from the Great War, the monument of the emperor Traian and the other of the Dacian king, Decebal (carved by I. Franasovici and M. Butunoiu), Apollodor of Damascu's bust (work in bronze by Ion Murnu); and so one.
The citizens of Severin have nearly a cult for statues and gardens. In the city, there are a lot of beautiful parks, the Park of the Roses, the garden "General Dragalina", hosting the ruins of the medieval castle of Severin, with elegant alleys and canopies of chestnut bending over the Carol I Boulevard, the Central Park, designed in English style, with spring fountain, monuments.
In the North of the City there is the Natural Park Crihala, stretched on 13 hectares while on the west side there is another parc, with water and beautiful alleys.
Drobeta Turnu Severin is a warm and bright city, thanks to the mediterran climate, and thanks to the people who loves the nature.
