Les Auberges de Jeunesse LAJ - 75 ani de existenta

Our organisation, Les Auberges de Jeunesse LAJ (Youth Hostels Wallonia - Brussels), celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.

To mark this event in style, we are organising a cycling circuit – a sporting and charitable challenge – linking our hostels in Malmedy, Champlon and Bouillon. This 176 km cycle-tourism trek will take place from 19 to 21 September and will involve 75 "sportspeople" (with the possibility of forming teams).

Our organisation will offer each of these 75 cyclists a three-day/two-night full-board stay in our Malmedy and Champlon Youth Hostels - worth over 4,000€ in total. In return, the cyclists are asked to find a minimum of 75€ in sponsorship per person. This sponsorship will be used to promote the work of the Foundation for Future Generations, which supports numerous sustainable development-based projects helping people and the environment in Belgium in the area of social change: social justice, solidarity, equality of opportunity, environmental balance, democratic control of choices. More information is available at www.fgf.be.

This event will be well publicised to raise awareness amongst both the young and the not-so-young of the need to show greater respect for our planet.

The programme will run as follows:

- Friday 19 September: arrival late afternoon, welcome drink and overnight stay at the Malmedy Youth Hostel.

- Saturday 20 September: cycle from the Malmedy Youth Hostel to the Champlon Youth Hostel (96 km). Overnight stay at the Champlon Youth Hostel.

- Sunday 21 September: cycle from the Champlon Youth Hostel to the Bouillon Youth Hostel (80 km).

End of the circuit and a big party to congratulate our hardy cyclists!
